This Dwyer lived in a castle at the base of Clogher Hill, the remains are still to be seen and the castle is Known as Graigue Castle.
According to local tradition Dwyer was a lover of greyhounds. About this time he had some young greyhounds being reared at Scallopwich near Cappawhite. One morning he received false information that the pups were sick and his presence was required immediately.
He hashley prepared and on his journey he was taken prisoner and hanged.
His body is supposed to be interred in Clonoulty Churchyard and the spot is marked by a small tombstone on which is a Latin inscription.
