The belief is (again Mr. O Gorman is my Source) that two ancient warriors (either Finn and a comrade or Cú Ċulainn and a rival) standing on the Kerry Side of the Shannon threw the pillars across as a trial of strength.
Cluain na Cille : or Cluain na Coille as some suggest. This latter form does not appeal to me as there is no great evidence of the woods here while there is every evidence of a ruin or foundations not unlike an early church and cells.
Doheer : I give an English spelling as I have failed to discover a satisfactory Irish form. The place lies east of Cahermurphy school and is bounded by Cahermurphy and bailey na bfód.
    Do ṫír? : Deaġ ṫír? : ? — ṫaír?
