  1. Many years ago there lived in Mount Callan a man named John Browne who was living alone in his house for many years and then he paid a servant girl. He had two farms of land one which he lived and an out side farm. Every night and morning John Brown and his servant girl used to go to the out side farm to milk the cows. On their way to the farm they used to pass a fort. When they had the cows milked they put the two pails of milk on their heads and they came home. On their way as they were passing the fort the girl slipped and fell and spilled the pail of milk. The man heard children crying in the fort and he heard a voice saying, "Here comes John Brown and his servant with the milk and they had not gone far more when the man tripped over a stone and spilled the pail of milk. Then the man said not to be sorry for spilling the milk.
