The noise of a cascade or river can be heard very far away before rain. When the rain is coming flies and bees become very tormenting and irritating .if crickets sing sharply, it is a sign of rain .
If the smoke goes up straight it is a sign of fine weather .If there are blue little lights seen in the fire when stirred up, it is a sign of broken weather. The soot in the chimney becomes soft and drops down when we are near rain.
