    Famous Men
    There were many great men in the parish of Kilmaley long ago.Pat Reidy who still lives,in the townland of Kilclogher ,carried a twenty stone bag of flour on his back from Ennis,a distance of about six English miles without resting.
    The most noted walkers in the parish were jermiahCahill and his brother Cornelius.These two men walked once a week to Ennistymon and back again ,a distance of thirty two miles guiding a stallion.The townland they lived in,is called Rathkerry.
    The best runner formerly lived at Cahermore,his name was John Neylon.This man won several cups.His father MArtin Neylon of Cahermore was supposed to be the strongest man to lift a weight .He lifted three cwt.weight one time at a mill
