- Local Happenings
Many are the local happenings that happened in Ennis and the surrounding district and I will now relate some of them.About a hundred years ago there live a man named Thomas O'Donoghue who was usually called Holy Tom. He had been blind for years. He had great devotions to St Joseph who appeared to him in a dream and directed him to bathe his eyes in the well in Ballycoree, and that his sight should be restored to him. The holy man did as hewas told and the Saints words were fulfilled. In thanksgiving Tom erected a statue in honour of St Joseph and spent the rests of his days outside the Franciscan Church mending Beads and other things.
