Maire Ruadh who lived in Lemeneigh Castle was said to have a great steed.There was a man named O'Loughlin or
(Máistín Caoch na Cruaiche) who at Maire Ruadh's displeasure was compelled to mount this steed,which was seven years in the stable,or he would be killed. The horse took a great jump, and the townland is called after it, : "léim-an eich"(the horse’s leap)
