  1. Long ago a man had only one garden, and in the middle of the garden there was a fir tree. The man said to himself that he would plant potatoes in the garden, and that he would cut down the fir tree. He cut down the tree, and the fairies did not like it.
    One night the man, and his son, and two other boys were coming home from a wake, and the man stopped to light his pipe, and the fairies brought him away.
    After twenty years his son was passing that same
