    eve day to meet him to ask for a road, or leave to make a road, to the bog, Instead, he ordered them to be out of their houses in one month from that day.
    He lodged in Mc Donnell's hotel in Crossmaglen and was continually drinking to excess. After giving all his Catholic tenants notice to quit, he did not leave his hotel for 14 day.
    Then he decided to go to Dublin and ordered the jarvey, named Mc Inally to drive him to Culloville. Where the coal depot now is, at the junction of the new and old roads, Mc Inally struck him first and threw him off the side car. Two men waiting there beat him with sticks until he was dead.
    Mc Inally returned to Cross, and Mc Donnell of the hotel, gave him £12 and so he reached Newry and later got to America.
    The two men who killed Mullever were Taffy (a labourer in Cross) and Owen Hanratty of Drumacon. They were almost drunk and came by Culloville to Clonalig, where they cleaned themselves
