  1. The landlord in this estate was Bolton and he lived in Bolton Castle on Tully donnell Hill -
    He was rarely in Ireland - but his tenants said he was a kind good man, but he had a terrible agent named Tatlow - who would do very cruel unjust things to the tenants, were it not for the landlord.
    In the memory of the old residents there was only one eviction - that of Paddy Meade for non-payment of rent - and he was re-instated at once when his broker paid the arrears of rent.
    The last owner of the castle only visited his estate here once - and that time he visited every house on the estate - and sat down at the fire and lighted his pipe and in one house their was a pot of boiled potatoes on the hearth and he took up one and split it and ate it -
    The rent was never accepted in kind here.
