    Long ago the people baked the bread on a griddle. At present they bake it in a pot oven. My mother had a griddle and she used to bake the bread on it. The griddle was a flat piece of metal and it was put up on a stand. The stand was a half-foot from the ground. When they put the bread on the griddle they put it on the fire. They baked all the bread to last them a week. They baked oatmeal bread and bran bread and wheaten-meal. They ground the meal themselves between two stones or with a horse power engine.
