The horse field
The nine acres
These fields are owned by Mr Thomas Sheridan of Balreask - There is a hill on the Bective road called the moate. In the nineteenth century there were houses there. This was made a garden of and a hedge was put around it. There is a gate farther down the road called Balreask Gate, and from that gate to the moate there were eleven houses. About the year 1850 the eleven families were evicted from that land by the landlord David Clifford.
On the day of the eviction a bishop named Dr Cantwell was going to a Confirmation in Kilmessan. He saw the eleven families on the road. At the(continues on next page)- Collector
