Cnoc Slamna which means the Slippy Hill. - The Castle field in Loughrans on the Ringlestown road derived its name from a Norman Castle which was built in it of which the foundations still remain. The Ratheen a field near Kilmessan Station derived its name from a round mound which is in the middle of it. There is a lone bush growing on the top of the mound and the people say that the fairies dance around the bush at night.(continues on next page)
