- (continued from previous page)Priests thought the Penal times and often hid them from the soldiers. Father Branigan himself was given refuge there afterwards.
- The only Graveyards in use in my district are Ardbraccan, Retaine, and Churchtown In former years there were Graveyards in Doramstown, Grange, Kilsany, Onchenstown, and Martry.
There is a tomb stone in Martry Graveyard to the memory of Rev Father Nolan dated 1777. There is an old ruin in Retaine Graveyard. Part of the old Parish church of Ardbraccan can be seen in Ardbraccan Graveyard. This church was pulled down in 1777, and the stones used to build the present protestant church.- Collector
