    would be the pitch. Sticks were cut on the ditches and these served as goal-posts. No matter how many points you got they were not counted. Goals were the only thing that were counted. The hay ball was the size of the ordinary football.

  2. Football was a very common game long ago all the young lads of the district were sure to be joined some team. It was mostly between parishes the games would be played.
    In years gone by there was a game played in Lobinstown, Castletown and Heronstown were playing. It was played on a Sunday evening and the people came from all districts to it
