- On 9th June, the Festival of St. Columcille a pattern is held locally to a holy well, called St Columcille's Well, situated in the townland of Strinagh, three miles north of Grangegeith School.The well is in the fields and quarter of a mile from the road. It is a deep spring well about five feet in diameter, partly covered with a flag-stone. The well is surrounded by white-thorn bushes and on these are tied strings and pieces of cloth by those visiting the well. A mug is laid on the flag-stone and used for drinking after the rounds.(continues on next page)
