- There was a school in Ballyhealy. It was called a night school. It was held in a shed. The masters name was Master Gee. Both English and Irish were taught in it. They had no black board but they had a slate. Writing was done with a quill and paper. The seating was very poor for there were blocks of wood around the shed and the children used to sit on the blocks. The children used to bring a penny to pay the Master.
