  1. Once upon a time there lived a man named Mick Keena who had a goat which was always rambling, and he said he would put a stop to her rambles.
    So he put her in his boat and brought her to one of the smaller islands in Lough Ennel, where he left her.
    A water-bailiff named Michael Byrne and two police officers went out on the lake one night to try to catch poachers. They landed on this island with the intention of hiding themselves; and when they had pulled the boat near enough to land the goat walked into the boat and they got such a fright that they fled for their lives.
