    On the slope of the hill of Keel on the side of the road from Kilbeggan to Castletown there grew an old ash tree with a whitethorn bush at the back, two arms of the bush came around the tree as if they would hold it from falling back down into the road below. On the occasion of a funeral passing the way the coffin was always lowered to the ground then the crowd recited the De Profundis shouldered the coffin again and went on their way.
    A man and woman are belived to have been killed by falling from the bank above into the road.
