A Local Song
“The dear old house is standing yet. Where oft in days departed.”
I have sat with those I never ne'er forget
My school mates jovial-hearted.
Where life appeared a paradise of happiness extreme
For all was innocence and glee,
In the old School by the Stream.
2
And nigh the town, its lifts its head beside the public way
And grace between a flowing bed fast rumbling to decay
An ivy porch it cannot boast to make it gay or sheen
Its bareness shames wild Autumn boast.
The old school by the Stream.- Collector
