  1. My father told me that in this district in former times people had very queer marriage customs. They did not mind when or how they got married only let it be after dinner. They would not mind if they were half or even whole drunk going up to the alter. If the priest was charging them too much they would go off and say, " We'll do the way we are."
    They often went in spoke wheel cart drawn by a horse. The wheels had neither shoeings or fellows but it was just hopping along from spoke to spoke. It was made much like a hay-cart only a lot longer
