  1. Gortanear is the townland in which our home is situated, and is in the of Streete.
    It is a very small townland and is made up of woods, bog, and fields. My Father owns all the land which consists of 213 acres.
    The names of the surrounding townlands are Moata Valley, Kilmore, and Cornacausk.
    There are about eleven people in the townland altogether. These people are Daddy and Mammie, six children, Mammie's aunt, and two men who live in a small house in the bog which Daddy built for a workman who could not get a house in Streete.
