    The "Annals of Westmeath" contains no account or mention of Bryan Seery, because the author - Woods was afraid of hurting the feelings of some of the 'Ascendancy' who had subscribed towards the publication of his book.
    Bryan Seery was tried by a packed jury in Mullingar about 1848 for some outrage or other which had been arranged by the police themselves. A raid was arranged on a police barrack or hut. The gun which was to be used by the leader of the raiding party was
