  2. Once there was a man whose name was Doolan and he went to steal a bundle of hay out of Twyford one morning about four o'clock. When he had the bundle on his back and about to start with it a man with a big long pole out of his chin appeared to him. So he put the pole on the bundle of hay and Doolan could not stir. Doolan then went to the hedge and got a stick and began to beat the man but it was no use. Doolan sat down then and said he would bring
