- The local fairs are held in Ballymahon, Lenamore, and Ardagh.
The chief fair is held in Ballymahon, and the other two are held in village.
Until recently the buyers used to go to the farms and buy a lot of stock from the people. This is still carried on in places.
In former years fairs were held in Tashinny and in Barry every quarter, and they are now discontinued, because, the town fairs are held monthly, and the people would not wait for the quarterly ones.
The fair on the 9th July in Tashinny was called "The gooseberry fair". The fair in February in Ballymahon was called "The runaway fair."
The fairs are generally held on the streets of the towns around here.
