    My mother told me the following story.
    Two families lived together; one was a Catholic and the other a Protestant. On the first of May the Catholic woman was churning and the Protestant woman came in and asked for a coal of the fire and she got it. She did likewise three times and each time the Catholic woman put a sod of turf in a bucket of water. When she had her churning finished she went to the bucket and instead of three sods there were three rolls of butter in it. The Protestant woman was trying to take the butter but she failed.
