- (continued from previous page)tidings of her son. He came in and he told her that her son was held by the queen of the fairies. He said he would have to fight a great battle before he could get her son.
He got up a great army against the queen and a few days later the battle began. It started at Rathcrohan near Co. Roscommon and it ended at a fort in Streamstown which is now owned by Peter Farrell. It came up by the bog in Clonmee and for years afterwards the blood could be seen there. In the end the little man had the victory. He brought back the woman her son. It is said that nothing was ever seen nor heard in this fort since this battle. It is thought that the fairies must be all killed. This happened nearly a hundred years ago.- Collector
