- There is a Hessian buried in Peter Bradys rook. One day my great grandmother was in Peter Bradys, two Hessians came running after a man.One of the Hessians came into the house and asked a drink.Mrs Brady took a noggin and filled it with cream and handed it to the Hessian. He rose the noggin on his head and when he was drinking my great grandmother took the kettle (?) and hit him on the throat with it and killed him.She put him in the corner and covered him with turf. She called the men and they dragged him out and buried him in the rook.Over his grave there is a whitethorn bush and the field is called the Hessians Field.- Collected by Frank Brady, Fardrummon who heard it from his father John Brady who heard it from my great grandmother.
