- The people nowadays use much more flour then they did in olden times.
In olden days they ate very plain bread. They grated new potatoes and mixed a little flour through them They were baked on a pan and this sort of bread was called "boxty". This kind of bread is made in some country houses still.
They also used boiled potatoes in bread. The potatoes were boiled, peeled and mashed.
Then very little flour was added. This was also baked on a pan and it was called "potato bread."
