In health and safety would you live
Take now what I freely give
If female touch invade this stone
A work of horror shall be done."
A Friar was established to guard the holy and pretentious well from the approaches of curiosity.
One fine moonlight night Miss Sheelaagh O'Reilly for curiosity stole to the well and watched her opportunity to get the Friar in charge asleep and she laid her hand on the stone, it rose at the touch of her hand and flew from its place giving vent to the imprisoned waters, which swept swiftly along converting the smiling valley into a waste of roaring water.
Poor Sheelagh lost her life but the lake was called after her.
