the case might be, and maybe six, but they would seldom be refused even if they got bad eggs as sometimes happened. When the crowd tired collecting, they went into some house or barn and cooked the eggs and ate them. This very old custom was kept up in this place until about thirty years ago. Some of the boys got so well-up that they began to sell the eggs and that ended the sport. People would not give eggs any more.

The May Bush. It has always been the custom here to put up the May Bush on May morn - 1st May. A fair - seized bush is got and it is decorated with pieces of coloured paper. The May bush is then placed at the gate or outside the dwelling house.
