the casing of the door. There was a thick skin covering it.
That evening an old woman came to the door and asked for some butter. The woman of the house said that it was too scarce and the traveller asked her about the roll of butter she had found on the door. The old woman of the house that this happened to was my Mother's grandmother. Her name was Betty Forrestal and this happened about one hundred and forty years ago. My mother heard the story from her father.
