- Holy wells are very common in the locality. There is one well in Brownscastle which is called St Munn's. This well is supposed to cure sore eyes. There was a man who came from the county Kilkenny with sore eyes and he got cured.
Another man in the district had a lump on his jaw and every Sunday he went to the holy well, and rubbed his jaw with the water and prayed there. One Sunday he went asleep beside the well, and when he wakened the lump was gone. - You are not logged in, but you are welcome to contribute a transcription anonymously.
