The walls were very strong about three or three and a half feet thick. In front of the old Castle stood the fine Mansion in which the Hores lived. It was built of stone and mortar, some granite and a slated-roof about which was used a quantity of lead.There was a beautiful portico in front this was purchased by Mr. George Stafford, at the auction, for his residence in Ballymagyr + can be seen there.The Mansion was three-storied, with numerous rooms each of which contained massive marble fire-places and huge windows
