    is gone but the water still runs the covered in many places by "sceacs" and is dangerous at those places. There were two gardeners kept to look after this garden, my father was one of them
    On the South east side at the outer side of the garden wall, signs of which are visible portion of the old Castle wall is still standing. It is built of stone and mortar-mostly small stones being used, there scarcely being any what we call building stones in it.
    The walls were very strong about three or three and a half feet thick. In front of the old Castle stood the fine Mansion in which the Hores lived. It was built of stone and mortar, some granite and a slated-roof about which was used a quantity of lead.
    There was a beautiful portico in front this was purchased by Mr. George Stafford, at the auction, for his residence in Ballymagyr + can be seen there.
    The Mansion was three-storied, with numerous rooms each of which contained massive marble fire-places and huge windows
    There was a belfry outside the granite frame
