    lieve in these stories, but I do believe that Mr Roche told me that story in genuine good faith. That district is supposed to be haunted. The Burned Walls is often mentioned in this connection and there seems to be some settled belief that the Tomgar apparitions referred to in No.16 and those of the Burned Walls and others have some connection with each other.
    I may finally add that Mr Roche was not a man to trifle with matters such as the above but I also know that he travelled the same road in fact would travel any road where his business took him at any hour of the night without the slightest hesitation.
