  1. One night a man was going home from the village of Ballynaboola, he had an overcoat on him, and after going a short distance he found a weight in his pocket that dragged him almost to the ground. His legs were bending under him. He struggled away until he went to his own gate. His coat nearly blew off him and the devil jumped out of his pocket in a ball of fire and from that day to this the man never came to the village in the night time. He always makes sure to be home before dark.
