- FaheranThe townsland of Faheran got its name from St Kieran. Faheran means the "plain of St Kieran." He is supposed to have come to this district in the fifth century. He started to build a church here but was obstructed in his work by the stealing of his cow. There is a green plot in the middle of a tillage field which is supposed to have been the foundation.
The green plot cannot be ploughed. Once a man tried to plough it but as he ploughed it the scrapes turned back again. He(continues on next page)
