- St Patrick's day is a great holyday. St Patrick established the faith in Ireland. He also planted the shamrock which will not grow in any other country. People wear it in honour of him on that day. The Irish send it to their friends who are in foreign countries as they like to have it to honour St. Patrick, and to remind them of their native place. In some places throughout Ireland and America they have parades on this day. They wear badges and harps. In olden times they made St Patrick's crosses. It was a custom to put a cross on your left arm with a burnt furze stump. It is not kept up in these days.
