    The Gallant youth took up the gun and went into the fray
    To outwit the cruel enemy
    It was their chief delight
    And the hacking shovel could be heard,
    In the stillness of th enight.

    They took them from the dungeons and the slums of London town.
    And sent them here to Erins Isle to hunt our people down.
    With their rifles, tanks, and aeroplanes
