  1. Many old people here in Tullow have a lot of signs concerning the weather. I was told the following signs by my mother.
    A red sky is the sign of good weather.
    A goat looking at the sky means a coming thunderstorm.
    A cat tearing at wood = sign of rain.
    A curlew calling at night is also a sign of rain.
    Another sign of wet weather is a cock crowing at night.
    "A Rainbow in the morning a sailors warning."
    "A Rainbow in the evening a sailors delight."
    If a rainbow appears after rain it is a sign of no more rain. (This is said because after the deluge Our Lord promised Poe that He would never destroy the earth by rain again and He put the Rainbow as a sign
