- (continued from previous page)III Roscat: Roscat got its name from a battle which was fought there long ago. Ros means a wood and Cat a battle. A stream over which there is a bridge flows through Roscat. This bridge (is) was called "The Ford of the Dead"
Some years ago a quantity of human bones and weapons were found by workmen who were making drains in the district. - (continued from previous page)IV Castlemore When Hugh De Lacy was made earl of Meath he built many castles in Leinster. One of these he built 1 1/2 miles from Tullow. Only a foundations can now be traced. It is believed that a hermit lived there & that his body is buried in the mound. On top there is a very big stone with a cross engraved on it.
