- My father is not a farmer and I am giving an account of the farm animals on Mr Pennefathers farm which are seventy four storecattle thirty six stall feeders three cows three calves five working horses and a hundred and four sheep. The cows have no names. They are distinguished by their colours. When driving the cows from a field we would say "Ho up" or something like that.
There are cowhouses large enough to hold ninety cattle. They are rectangular shape and are very long. There are two poles each side of every trough and a short pole across to which the chains for tying the cattle are tied and attached to the end of each chain are two extra chains to fasten around the beast's neck's.
In front of each trough there is a cement platform to fodder(continues on next page)- Collector
