- The snow-storm of the 24th February 1933 was the worst of its kind in living memory.
There were drifts of snow from six feet to twenty feet in height. There were some thousands of sheep lost. Through the depth of snow the shepherds could not travel or locate them quickly enough to save them before they were exhausted by cold and hunger.
