    was taken from them by a blacksmith. When Tom heard this he went to the blacksmith and asked for work.
    "What wages do you want?" asked the smith.
    "No wages at all" said Tom. All I ask is if you let me give you two taps on the shoulders every evening."
    "I will," said the smith. Tom started to make a horse shoe. The first blow he struck broke the anvil and the second knocked the roof off the forge. Stop: said the smith. "You will work here no longer." I'll take my days wages then." said Tom.
    He gave the blacksmith one blow and he knocked him over a hay stack. Don't strike me again." said the smith. "I will give you anything you ask if you let me alone" Then Tom said "Give me my father's farm and a purse of gold.
