- Local Poets. The name of a poet that lives in this district is Henry Grattan. He is called the "Roving Bard".
One of the songs that he composed was "the drowning of James Connolly"
This is one verse:-
Come back, come back, Jim Connolly,
entreat the comrades three,
We'll wander till where waters will more
safe and shallow be,
But all in vain, come back, come back,
The echoing woods encore,
'Neath the waters grim, their comrade
Jim,
Had sunk to rise no more.
Henry Grattan is not an Irishman. He was born in Scotland.
He lives on the "Green Hill", near Greenane(continues on next page)- Collector
