    lift the stone and when they raised one end of it they could see a large blue slate.
    One of the men pushed the slate off. There was a crock beneath the slate full of sovereigns.
    One man let a shout with surprise when he saw the sovereigns.
    The farmer heard the shout and ran in but during the time the ex-soldier filled his two pockets with the sovereigns.
    When the farmer went in to the house he told the ex-soldier to put the sovereigns back that he owned them.
    The farmer seized the ex-soldier to take the sovereigns from him.
    During the struggle one of the sovereigns fell on the floor and the man from Rathnew got it.
    The ex-soldier got away and he went to Wicklow and he changed one of the sovereigns. He got twenty one shillings for it.
    He took the train to Bray and was never heard of after.
