  1. Beliefs concerning Butter and churning.
    In this district one very often hears of "butter being taken" which meant that when a person had the milk ready to churn and a long time had been spent churning that no butter came on the milk.
    Several people were supposed to have the power of "bringing the butter". That meant that these persons when they churned had all the butter of the countryside in their churn.
    This power could be acquired only on the 1st of May or May-day.
    Stories concerning the above:-
