- (continued from previous page)hidden by the monks of Drumlane Abbey. It was hidden lest the soldiers of Cromwell would plunder the Abbey and steal the treasure. No one ever tried to get it. The treasure consists of of the chalice and other holy articles, which were used in the monastery beside the abbey. A silver bell with a sweet tone is said to be part of the treasure. This bell used to ring on the top of the abbey. It is said that when two monks were bringing holy articles from the abbey soldiers overtook them, and they hid the articles in a field. A well burst out and formed Drumlane Lough It is said that the bell rings every seven years. It is said also that a light is seen at intervals and that a ghostly horseman was seen riding across the lake.
