- Local Place Names
Written by Maureen O Reilly Drumenara Laragh Cavan
Collected from Mrs O Reilly Drumenara LaraghEvery field in our farm has a different name. Some of them got their names from something that happened in them or someone that lived in them.
We have a field called Bonfire hill it is so called because there was a bonfire in it long ago.
We have another called Ann's garden It got its name from a woman who lived in it about forty years ago. Then she emigrated to America.
We have another called the bog field it got its name because it is lying along a bog.- Collector
