- I have no churn at home but I often saw one. It is about four feet high. It is about three feet wide. It is round at the sides. This churn is about three or four years old.
The names of the various parts of the churn are, the churn the lid the copper and the dash. There is no mark on the side or bottom. The butter is made once a week. The butter is made in summer and winter. The woman of the house does the churning. The churning last one hour. The churning is done by hand.
It is stated that if a person comes into a house when the churning is taking place it is unlucky for them to go out again without taking a bash. It is also stated that if the butter does not come on the churn in a half an hour the person who is churning puts an iron in(continues on next page)- Collector
